To get the auto-detect EDID feature, update your kernel by booting up Whisper, downloading the kernel script at using Firefox or Chrome, then typing 'sudo sh ~/Downloads/kernel-update.sh' in the Terminal window with a password of 'odroid'. Can you take a look at implementing some user-friendly way to solve this on Lubuntu, or tell me the arcane terminal/command-line way to fix it? I understand that Xubuntu has settings that can manipulate the use of EDID sensing, and hardcode desired resolutions, and I used the little utility to adjust that when I installed Xubuntu. Frankly, given that nobody uses CRTs any more, there really shouldn't be any overscan built into the settings.

I've seen other threads where the answer was 'adjust your monitor's scaling', but that's not an option for this monitor - literally, 'what you see is what you get'. The official Hardkernel Xubuntu image works fine with my monitor.

Strangely, it did briefly work when I first tried it on a SD card, and then, after imaging it onto my eMMC card, I got the overscan issue and I was never able to get it to resize again, on either the SD or eMMC copies. My monitor has no way to scale down the overscan, so I can't use the image. The image boots up with a significant overscan, such that none of the bottom-of-screen icons or menus are visible, and the desktop icons are about 2/3 off of the screen to the left. I tried to run the 'Whisper' minimal Lubuntu image on my U3.
